(L to R) 2016 Chevrolet Colorado Midnight Edition and Trail Boss

Bold Choices for Happy Customers

As last year’s Motor Trend “Truck of the Year,” the Chevrolet Colorado could have rested on its laurels and happy comments from thousands of satisfied customers. Instead, Chevrolet has gone for a bolder look with the new Midnight Edition and Z71 Trail Boss. Stealing a bit from the design of its bigger brother, the Silverado Midnight Edition, the new Colorado offers black on black, with blacked out headlights, black grill and even a black bowtie logo. The Trail Boss is a perfect name for this aggressive-looking midsize pickup with patented Z71 off-road suspension, bold tires and an even bolder look. The 2016 Chevy Colorado is on its way to Chapman Chevrolet.

Make Your Choice of Truck Unique

“These are aggressive editions of one of the country’s hottest-selling truck, demonstrating the personalization that’s possible with Chevrolet accessories, whether it’s for the street, trail or both,” said Tony Johnson, marketing manager for the Colorado. Along with the black exterior on the Midnight, the 18-inch aluminum wheels are also predominately black. A bedliner, black of course, and tonneau cover finish off the bed in Midnight splendor. The Midnight edition is available in both two and four-wheel drive with the choice of a 2.5 or 3.6 liter engine. It will also be a trim level option on the Colorados with diesel engines.

Trail Boss Ready for Off-road Excursions

With 17-inch aluminum wheels hosting Goodyear Wrangler Duratec all-terrain tires, the Trail Boss is not a pretender when it comes to hitting rocky terrain. A chrome sport bar with LED lights will illuminate the way should you stay out after dark. Like the Midnight Edition, you can have your choice of the three available engines. The Trail Boss is only available on Colorado trucks with the Z71 trim package.

Most Horsepower, Best Efficiency

By providing the most horsepower in the midsize truck class along with the best fuel efficiency, the Chevrolet Colorado proved to be a sumptuous meal for consumers dying for another choice in that category. Chevy sold more than 40,000 Colorado trucks in the first half of 2015, many of them in Phoenix through Chapman Chevrolet. Phoenix is a hot market for trucks and the Colorado is a great investment for future returns. The 2016 models all have enhanced safety features, the option for 4G LTE Wi-Fi and a smooth and quiet ride that seems more at home in a far more expensive luxury vehicle.

Woodward Cruise Largest One-Day Car Event

With more than 1.5 million car lovers attending from around the world, the Woodward Dream Cruise is the largest one-day car celebration in the world. The event is held on Detroit’s Woodward Avenue, the site where carriage drivers would race way back in 1848. By the late 1950s it was the site of unofficial street racing due to the street’s width, lack of traffic and availability of drive-in burger shacks. In August, 1995, a local plumber came up with the idea of a cruise event to help raise funds for a local soccer field. More than five times the expected attendance showed up, which has now built to an event that brings in more than $56 million to the local economy each August. Although classic like the Chevy Nomad and Corvette are some of the cars people come to look at, you can see the latest Chevy models at your Phoenix Chevy dealer, Chapman Chevrolet.

Chevrolet in Fifth Year as Presenting Sponsor

As one of the prime sponsor of this year’s cruise, Chevrolet was heavily involved with events and displays. Volt owners enjoyed a “silent cruise” on the Tuesday preceding the event, gathering in their electric vehicles to quietly drive the strip and learn about the new Volt from Chevy engineers and marketers. On Wednesday, GM Design hosted the Design on Woodward car show where members of the GM design team presented more than 100 personal vehicles. The Chevrolet Performance display featured multiple vehicles that were on the Hot Rod Power Tour, as well as a wide selection of performance accessories and parts. The full line of Chevy vehicles were on display for the public on August 15, the official day of the cruise. This included a coupe and convertible 1955 Bel Air, which was celebrating its 60th birthday. If you missed the cruise, you can see the complete line of new Chevys at Chapman Chevrolet.

Silverado Rescue Squad Patrolled the Strip

Although old cars are beautiful classics, sometimes they don’t perform quite as well as new cars. Chevy made a fleet of six Silverados available as the Chevrolet Certified Service Squad to help cars and owners in trouble. Staffed with ASE-certified mechanics from the Metro Detroit Chevrolet dealers, the squad was well-prepared to handle anything from a lack of gasoline to more serious problems.

Chevy Well-represented by Cruise Car Buffs

As one of the most legendary automakers in the world, Chevrolet had its share of vehicles on display at the Woodward Dream Cruise. From older trucks to the sportier Bel Airs and Corvettes of the 1950s and 60s, Chevrolet’s first half-century was honorably represented. Move on to the six different generations of Camaro and newer Corvettes and attendees could see the Chevy brand has been a mainstay of American automaking for years.

Mid-size Truck Steps Up to Plate with Diesel Option

The increasing popularity offered by the fuel efficiency and long life of a diesel engine has prompted General Motors to start offering the option in both its Chevrolet Colorado and GM Canyon pickup trucks this fall. The 2.8-liter engine will cost about $3,700 more than a similar truck with a gas V-6, so it’s important to note how many miles you drive and how much you’ll save on fuel before committing to the higher price tag. Go to Chapman Chevrolet this fall and examine the new Colorado for yourself. At a starting price of $31,700, it is the least expensive diesel pickup on the market.

Only Available in Crew Cab

The initial offering of the diesel trucks will only come in crew cab body styles. They will have 181 horsepower that delivers 369 foot pounds of torque, enough to tow 7,700 pounds. A six-speed automatic is standard, as is an exhaust brake that helps you control speed on long downhill stretches without taxing the brakes. A trailer hitch package with locking rear differential is also standard. Although Chevy hasn’t announced the fuel mileage yet, it is expected to significantly beat the current Colorado 4-cylinder mark of 27 mpg on the highway.

Not Much Else Changing for 2016

As the Colorado was Motor Trend’s “Truck of the Year” for 2015, Chevy hasn’t changed much else about the popular package for the new model year. They will be offering Apple CarPlay in 2016, with an Android interface available next year. CarPlay includes voice text messaging and hands free phone calls for safety. Higher end models of the Colorado will also get a multi-color LCD instrument panel.

Turn Your Truck Into a Hot Spot

With available 4G LTE Wi-Fi technology you can turn your Chevrolet Colorado into a rolling hot spot, letting passengers listen to their own music, surf the web and do whatever the Internet allows. The Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system offers an 8-inch diagonal touchscreen that gives you access to a number of different apps. A USB port allows you to charge any compatible electronic device.

GearOn Storage System Organizes Your Stuff

GearOn is a two-tier storage system that includes a bed divider so you can organize camping gear, tools, or anything you want to carry into logical compartments. Keep your lumber separate from your groceries so the eggs make it home unscathed, or keep tools and supplies where you know you can find them easily. Check out the Colorado at Chapman Chevrolet.
