The event was a hundred years in the making, capped off with the reveal of the latest generation of America’s most dependable pickup truck. Company executives and passionate Chevy Truck owners recently gathered in Texas to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Chevy Truck. To cap off the event, the company dropped the next generation of the Chevy Silverado into the proceedings via helicopter, making a big splash before an excited crowd. “Our owners’ passion for Chevrolet trucks is truly humbling,” said GM North America president Alan Batey. “Many of our owners depend on their trucks for work and play, personalize their trucks in astonishing ways and pass their loyalty for Chevy Trucks down from generation to generation. For the Chevy Truck Centennial, we wanted to recognize the customers who have made Chevrolet part of their lives and have them help kick off the next 100 years of Chevy Trucks.” The 2019 Silverado will be coming to Chapman Chevrolet next year.

All New From Ground Up

The muscular design of the new Silverado caps off a total effort to create a new truck from the ground up. Taking advantage of decades of successful pickup design, engineers delivered a few stylistic touches along with improved performance and capability. The use of a high grade alloy in the truck bed steel floor helps create a box that is not only lighter, but also more durable. The significant reduction in vehicle weight improves fuel efficiency, along with payload and towing capability.

Expanding the Range of Models

Truck buyers will have a wider selection from which to choose when the new Chevy Silverado debuts at Chapman Chevrolet next year. That includes more variations of engine and transmission combinations to better fit any need, whether it be work, play or just general transportation. A new Silverado LT Trailboss package utilizes the off-road setup already on the Z71 package, as well as a two-inch lift for greater clearance when attacking tough trails. That lift package will be under full warranty by Chevrolet, giving you peace of mind when deciding whether or not to try and cross that deep crevice.

Police departments and first responders around the nation now have the option to be a little safer with the announcement of the new 2018 Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV). The newest version of Chevy’s popular SUV includes new technology to help public servants avoid crashes or reduce the chance of injury. “We want to protect our protectors and help them get home safely at the end of every shift,” according to GM VP Ed Peper. “The safety technologies we are introducing on the Tahoe PPV may serve as a second set of eyes.” You can see these new technologies for yourself when you inspect the entire Tahoe lineup at Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe.

Driver Assistance Package First of Kind

As far as PPVs go, Chevy’s new Enhanced Driver Assist Package is the first of its kind. This suite of technology includes programs designed to either alert the driver to a potential problem, take over vehicle functions, or just offer a safer environment. They are:

  • Power Adjustable Pedals: Drivers use the 10-way power seat and this feature to find the optimum driving position for both control and comfort.
  • Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking: Senses an impending collision and automatically applies the brakes to reduce the severity of a collision, or avoid a crash if at all possible.
  • Forward Collision Alert: This system determines the closing speed of the PPV and the objects in its way. The system alerts the driver to the danger with a series of beeps and seat vibrations.
  • Lane Keep Assist: If the turn signals are not activated and the PPV starts to drift out of its lane, this feature gently guides the vehicle back into the proper lane.
  • Safety Alert Driver Seat: Gives the driver the option of seat vibrations instead of audible warnings.

Helps Officers with Multiple Tasks

“When they’re on road patrol, police officers are constantly multitasking,” said retired Michigan police chief Theodore Quisenberry. “Now when officers are scanning their surroundings, so is their vehicle. That will help them stay safe.”

Tahoe Capable of Many Tasks

Along with being an excellent PPV and vehicle suited for many public service tasks, the Chevy Tahoe is a confident, capable SUV that’s perfect for hauling people and cargo. With the power to haul and tow large loads, the Chevy Tahoe is perfect for family vacations, taking the team to soccer practice or just heading out on a weekend adventure. The new driver assistance features also make this one of the safest vehicles you can own. Check out the all-new Tahoe when you take a trip to Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe.
